Abigail was the daughter of Richard Stockton (a signer of The Declaration of Independence) and Annis Boudinot. Richard and Annis were married 21 April 1752. They had six children: Julia, Mary, Susan, Richard, Lucius and Abigail.

Abigail Stockton married Robert Field, son of Robert and Mary Peale Field of White Hill on the Delaware River, (now Fieldsboro, NJ). They married in 1796 in Princeton, NJ.
Robert and Abigail had six children: Robert (1797-1850), Annis Stockton Field (1799-1823). Annis married Wm. Dunbar 4 May 1818, Mary Field (1801-1875) Mary also married Wm. Dunbar on 25 Mar 1827, Julia (1802-1902), Richard Stockton Field (1803-1870), Hannah Boudinot Field (1806-1880).

Abigail was buried in Princeton.
