George Lura, 68, died unexpectedly Wednesday, September 10.
The funeral was in Trinity Lutheran Church Saturday.
Mr. Lura was born June 24, 1912 at Montrose, South Dakota, son of the late Lars and Martha Lura. The family moved to Cooperstown in 1917, and he had lived here since.
He was married to Alyce Overby at Crookston, Minn., May 16, 1947. They lived in Cooperstown and he farmed until 1967. He was employed at Farmers Oil Company for several years, and also had worked as custodian of Trinity Lutheran Church for 10 years. He was a past president of the board of trustees of the church.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, David of Rockford, Wash., Dennis, Minneapolis, Minn., and Duane, Cooperstown; two grandsons; and three sisters, Mrs. John (Gertrude) Peterson, Sun City, Ariz., Mrs. Norman (Lilianne) Anderson, Chatham, Mass., and Mrs. Alvin (Myrleen) Boe, Cooperstown.
A brother, Ole, preceded him in death.
