Beatrice 'Bea' Miller of Delphos, age 93, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Vancrest of Delphos surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on December 29, 1927, daughter of Albert and Frances (Brinkman) Hempfling, both deceased.

She married Leo Miller (deceased) on August 18, 1948, and they were married for 55 years. On February 4, 2006, she married Leonard Smith (deceased).

Bea was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by eight children: Randy (Nancy) Miller of Austin, TX; Sharon (Bill) Long of Ossian, IN; Steve (Ann) Miller of Alpharetta, GA; Jayne (Rick) Bryne of Ottoville; Nancy (Bruce) Wollenhaupt of Van Wert; Pete (Julie) Miller of Bettendorf, IA; Mark (Kathy) Miller of Erie, MI; Lisa Temples of Winter Haven, FL; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and eight step-children.

Beatrice attended Delphos St. John's Catholic School and successfully completed 12 years without missing a day. She played the drum in the orchestra and in the first school band.

Beatrice was committed to a lifetime of service to her community. She was a 4H advisor and a member of the Catholic Daughter's of America. She sang and played the drum in the Autumn Year Choralaires, entertaining nursing home residents. In addition, Beatrice volunteered at the Interfaith Thrift Store for more than 20 years.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Beatrice is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Krystal Bryne; brothers, Cyril and Herbert Hempfling; and a sister Germaine (Hempfling) Hemker.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos. Father Dennis Walsh will officiate. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, June 21 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Weber Funeral Home in Delphos.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Catholic School.
