Mrs. Dorothy Patton, 79, of Morganton, passed away Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, after a period of declining health.

She was the daughter of the late William Elgie Clark and Margaret Loretta "Rettie" Clark of Pineola. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Patton was preceded in death by a son, Larry Patton; a daughter, Gaylene Patton; two sisters, Opal Friday and Annie Lou Everhart; four brothers, Herbert, Archie, John and Morris Clark.

She is survived by a daughter, Debbie Patton of Morganton; a sister, Mrs. Artie Patton of Lenoir; half-sisters, Mrs. Cora Coffey of Lenoir, Pearl Buchanan of Morganton and Elsie Barrier of Jonas Ridge; and one half-brother, Marvin Clark of Crossnore; three granddaughters, one grandson, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., today at Sossoman Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jack Moses officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.sossomanfuneralservice.com.
