Cora Lizenkia Clark Coffey, age 104, of Lenoir, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, February 20th 2010. Cora was born the daughter of the late William Elgie Clark and Margaret Bowman Clark on September 28th 1905 at Harper's Creek, NC. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ in Lenoir, and was loved by all who knew her. Cora enjoyed being a wife and mother. She was known for her wonderful cooking, gardening and sewing skills. Cora will be greatly missed.
Along with her parents, Cora is preceded in death by her husband, Perry Elmore Coffey; three sons; Alvin Matthew Coffey, Floyd Noah Coffey and Perry Jay Coffey; a daughter, Bessie Lucille Carswell; eight brothers; eight sisters; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include two daughters, Violet Passmore and her husband, Jerdy, and Viola Cox and her husband, Roy, both of Lenoir; three sisters; Dovie Mae Tallent of San Francisco, CA, Pearl Buchanan of Glen Alpine, and Artie Patton of Lenoir. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, and numerous great, great-great, and a sixth generation grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 23rd 2010 in the chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with Bishop Cade Burns and Pastor Michael Owens officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Interment will be held at 3:30 P.M. at the Tate Family Cemetery in Pineola.
