Virginia McCoy, 74, died Wednesday, March 11, 1998 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born March 13, 1923 in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Aud Augustus and Ida Mae Ard Higginbotham. She was the widow of Woodrow Wilson McCoy. She was a retired head cook at Shakertown and a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church. Survivors include: two sons, Tim McCoy, Danville, Mike McCoy, Harrodsburg; three daughters, Betty Jo Bell, Somerset, Patricia Sanders, Danville, and Phyllis Carey, Burgin; 12 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by three children, Mary Leon, Terry Lee and Richard Augustus McCoy. Funeral services were held Friday, March 13, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bro. John David Lane officiating. Burial was in the Somerset Cemetery.
