WAYLAND C BROWN
Wayland C Brown, a lifetime resident of East Marion, passed away Saturday December 10 at Eastern Long Island Hospital. He was 83 years old.
Mr Brown was born in East Marion July 19, 1894, the son of Mary and Atwood Brown. A retired farmer, he was a volunteer fireman and a member of East Marion Community Church. He was also instrumental in planning the War Memorial Post Office in the community.
The beloved husband of Lillian Bergen Brown and the late Bertha Ketcham Brown, Mr Brown was the loving father of Genevieve Salminen, Marjorie Getches and Lillian Heroy, all of East Marion; Sarah Dennis of Port Jefferson; the late Betsey Corwin of Riverhead; Lois Wing of Caribou, Maine; and Irene Utter of Miller Place. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the East Marion Community Church Monday December 12 with the Rev Dr Myron Slater officiating. Memorial gifts may be given to the Eastern Long Island Hospital or the East Marion Community Church.
