Terry D. Baxter, 75, of Hope, passed away at 3:32 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient.

Terry was born August 12, 1945, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Walter and Ruth L. Duncan Baxter.

On August 30, 1969, he married Sylvia Kline.

Mr. Baxter worked at Cummins Engine Company before his retirement. He was a veteran of the Indiana Army National Guard and was honorably discharged after his service to his country. Terry was also a member of New Zion United Methodist Church. He enjoyed working as a ring man at various auctions and was a proud member of the National Muzzle Loader Rifle Association.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sylvia; children, Donald T. (Michele) Baxter of Columbus, Joe-D. M. (Kyra) Baxter of Elizabethtown; grandchildren, Marshall Baxter, Alisha Baxter-Spencer, Makayla Baxter, Allyson Baxter, Ethan Baxter; great-grandchildren, Makalia Baxter, Avery Spencer, Serenity Spencer, Jensen Spencer; nieces, Nancy (Leon) Swift, Jill (Scott) Renner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Danny Baxter, Perry Baxter and sister, Mary Ellen Baxter.

The funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Daryl Gressel officiating.

Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
