Baby Baxter Victim of Leukemia
Danny Leon Baxter, age 11 months, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Baxter, Carr Hill road, died at 6:30 o'clock this morning at Riley hospital of acute leukemia. He had been there for treatment since April 8.
From the start doctors had given Mr. and Mrs. Baxter no encouragement that the boy would live. He received a transfusion of Type A blood daily as part of his treatment.
Funeral rites will be held at 1:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at Hathaway funeral home. Rev. Ralph Turney will be in charge of rites. Burial will be at Garland Brook cemetery. The casket will be open Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Surviving with the parents are two brothers, Perry and Terry Baxter; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Baxter, Mrs. Leone Mizer and William Duncan, all of Columbus; his great-grandfather, W. C. Duncan, and his great-grandmother, Mrs. Sam Carlisle, Columbus.
