"Ellsworth - April 25 – Mrs. William H. Allen, 81, died Monday in Battle Creek, Mich., after a short illness. Deceased was born in Ellsworth, a daughter of the late Dr. G. W. Brooke, and was married to W. H. Allen, also a native of Ellsworth, in 1873. The loved and respected couple resided here until 15 years ago when they removed to Battle Creek. Mr. Allen died two years ago. Both were among the most active members of the Presbyterian church. Surviving Mrs. Allen are two sons, George B. and A. C., of Battle Creek, a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Lawrence, of Orange, N. J. and a brother, S. B. Brooke, Lancaster, Pa. Largely attended funeral services were held this forenoon in the Ellsworth Presbyterian church, Rev. G. E. Brown officiating. The remains were laid to rest beside her husband in the village cemetery."
