Virgil was the son of Rachel and James Baxter Brashier; husband of Mary Francis Brashier; father of Lou, Ara, Nettie, Clayton, Bessie, Tulah, James, Tony and Joseph; and brother of Samuel Douglas Brashier, Nathan, Augusta, Druce, Robert and Lindsay.

The 1900 census lists William Brashier's birth as June 1871. This is consistent with the 1880 census where he was 9 years old, the second oldest child of James Baxter Brashier. A little unusual, but it appears that the grave marker birth date is ten years off.

William married Mollie Fowler in about 1891. The 1900 census also lists 15 year old Ernest as a son of Mollie Brashier, but was probably not the son of William.
