Rachell was the daughter of Virgil H. Harris and Lucretia Hobbs Harris; wife of James Baxter Brashier; mother of 8 children, including Samuel Douglas Brashier; and sister of Christine, Mary Susan, Sam, Sarah Ellen, Roxanna, Dennis, Jennie and Emma.

Rachael was born in Texas. Her parents moved to Scott County, Arkansas when she was young. She married James Baxter Brashier in about 1868. Their children were born in Scott County. Some of the Brashiers (including Rachael, James, SD and Sophie) moved to Rains County, TX in about 1890.
