Born May 2, 1924 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Albert D. and Lois Sherrill Arndt. He was a member of Olivet Baptist Church and was retired as a contruction contractor. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served as a gunners mate, 2nd class during World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death a son, William Lewis Arndt, two brothers, Harold D. Arndt, Donald A. Arndt and a sister, Jo Ann Eades.
Survivors include his wife:, Mary Ellen Starnes Arndt of the home; son & daughter-in-law, Allen Arndt and wife, Connie of Maiden, NC; grandsons, Michael Arndt and wife, Allison of Ft. Mill, SC, Christopher A. Arndt of Chapel Hill, NC, Ben Arndt of Sherrills Ford, NC, Bradley Arndt of Denver, Colorado; great grandson, Ethan Arndt of Ft. Mill, SC; step grandsons, Mark Frasure and wife, Jennifer of Maiden, NC, Brian Frasure of Raleigh, NC, Matthew Frasure and wife, Nichole of Hickory, NC; sister, Patricia Jane Jones of Catawba, NC.
A Service of Remembrance was held Nov 29, 2007 at Olivet Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. John Marks officiated and burial is in the church cemetery.
