Livia "Jenny" Cipriani was born near Florence, Italy on May 26, 1903. Livia was 8 years old when she came to America with her family in 1911.

Livia was united in marriage with Emanuel "Madalay" Gelli on July 26, 1919 in Calumet, Michigan. They eventually moved to DeKalb, Illinois and lived near Livia's older brother, Joseph. Livia and her sister-in-law, Annunziata "Nancy" Cipriani used to exchange babysitting services.

When Livia wasn't busy with her family or doing her crafts and needlework, she enjoyed visiting and being with people. Her home was always filled with wonderful smells of something cooking in the kitchen. No visitor ever went hungry in her presence.

After the death of her husband in 1968, Jenny's health began to fail. She spent the last decades of her life as a resident of the DeKalb County Nursing Home. Even when her hands began to cripple, she continued to crochet and create beautiful gifts for her friends and relatives. Her mind stayed as sharp as a tack during those years and she always was pleasant to visit. She kept her framed photo of her husband tucked behind another photo because she said she missed him so much, that it made her sad to see the photo.

Livia lived to be 92 years old and is still missed and remembered.
