Bruce's grandfather ,John Frederick "Fred" Garver (1881-1953), is a first cousin to Emma Marie Bender Kinzig, Bruce wrote the following "bio" and solicits suggestions for its improvement.

According to the "Ohio Death Records, 1908-1932, 1938-2018", Emma Marie Bender was born on September 16, 1882, in Hamilton, seat of Butler County, Ohio, to German immigrant John Peter Bender (1851-1936) and Indiana-born Ernestine (Pfluger) Bender (1857-1937). The "Ohio County Marriage Records, 1774-1993", Film No. 001030848, state that on August 8, 1905, Emma Marie Bender wed Joseph Kinzig, the son of Charles Kinzig and Maggie (Beckman) Kinzig. Emma Marie (Bender) Kinzig and Joseph Kinzig together raised one son, Ellsworth Joseph "Bud" Kinzig (1918-1999), and three daughters: Marcella Kinzig (Benson, 1906-1993), Lilian Marguerite Kinzig (Mrs. Isaac E. Norris, 1912-2009), and Marjorie E. Kinzig (Mrs. Robert N. Lovett, 1921-2018). The records of the Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum state that Emma Marie Bender died at the age of eighty-eight on January 8, 1971, in Dayton, Ohio, and was interred there at Woodland Cemetery & Arboretum in Section 126, Lot 273.
