Clarence Baumbach, 67, of Lodi died Saturday in a local hospital after a short illness.
He was born in Harvey, N.D. and attended school in Hurdsfield, N.D. Mr. Baumbach married Ruth Wonnenberg in November 1934 in Hurdsfield.
They farmed in Goodrich, N.D. for a short time and then in Minot, N.D. until 1950 when they sold out and moved to Oakland.
Mr. Baumbach worked for General Motors Co in the East Bay and when he retired in 1976 after 25 years with the company, he was an inspector on the finishing line. The family moved from Newark to Lodi last summer.
Mr. Baumbach is survived by his wife, Ruth Baumbach of Lodi, a daughter Grace Schild of Harvey, brother Art Baumbach of Hurdsfield, sisters, Olinda Weigelt of Armstrong, Iowa and Edith Patzer of Hurdsfield, five grandchildren and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his son Robert Baumbach who died in 1982 and one brother, Lawrence Baumbach, and a sister, Ruth Kraft.
Services will be Wednesday at 10am in the Lodi Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Wayne Kildall officiating. Interment will be in Cherokee Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 pm today.
