Death Takes Capt. Power of Fire Dept.

Capt. John G. Power, 53, of 301 Plantation st, for 18 years a member of the Worcester Fire Department, died Sunday at City Hospital.
He was promoted to lieutenant in 1944, and had served in stations throughout the city. In 1947 he became a captain and was assigned to Engine 6 on Plantation street where he remained until his death.
He was born in Worcester, son of Thomas E. and Winifred (Brennan) Power, and he lived here all his life.
Affiliations
Captain Power was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Margaret Mary Church, the Worcester Firefighters Relief Association, the Massachusetts Permanent Firefighters Relief Association, the St. Michael's Guild of the Fire Department, and the Firefighters Officers Club.
He leaves his wife Anna R. (Bermingham) Power; one son, John E. Power of Worcester; four daughters, Mary W.,. wife of Robert B. Moran of Worcester, Ann F., wife of Daniel R. Hoch of Augusta, Ga., and the Misses Eileen M. and Winifred H. Power of Worcester; four sisters, Helen P. and Josephine A. Power, both of Worcester, Margaret J., wife of Richard J. Harris of Shrewsbury, and Mary T., wife of Alfred J. Liberty of Augusta, Ga., and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be be held Wednesday from the Kelly Funeral Home, 154 Lincoln street, with a solemn high mass at 9 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary Church.
Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today and Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. St. Michael's Guild of the Worcester Fire Department will meet at the funeral home Tuesday at 8:45 p.m. to recite the rosary.
