Mary Ann (Helregel) Kuenstler, 83, of Claremont, Illinois, departed this life on Monday, February 28, 2022, at Lavender Ridge Memory Care in Olney, Illinois.

Mary Ann was born on November 30, 1938, in Ste. Marie, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Sophia (Hoffman) Helregel.

She married Daniel J. Kuenstler on May 11, 1963, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, Illinois.

After graduation from Newton Community High School in Jasper County, Illinois, Mary Ann worked at the General Telephone Office in Olney as a ticket sorter. Upon the birth of their first child, she left work outside the home to be a homemaker. She loved being a farm wife and would cook wonderful meals complete with tea and dessert to take to the field during planting season or harvest. A fond family memory is spreading out a blanket on the edge of a field to sit on for the meal. She was the biggest fan of her children and grandchildren and enjoyed helping with 4-H projects and cheering at basketball games.

Mary Ann was a devout Catholic who was very devoted to saying the rosary and her daily prayers. Growing up she was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, Illinois, and after marriage was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Olney, Illinois. She taught Parish School Religion (PSR) at St. Joseph for many years, and teaching others, especially children, about loving God was very important to her. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Dan, of Claremont, Illinois; her sons and daughters in law, Stephen and LaDonna Kuenstler of Olney, Illinois, and Andrew and Donna Kuenstler of Auburn, Illinois; her daughter and son in law, Deborah and Aaron Mitchell of Olney, Illinois; her seven grandchildren Kyle (wife Sarah) Kuenstler, Casey (husband Tyler) Hemrich, Preston (special friend Hannah Woodcock), Erika (husband Tyler) Nevois, Bianca (husband Mark) Feather, Seth and Lance Mitchell; her seven great grandchildren Caroline and Henry Kuenstler, Haven, Jaxon, Raely, and Jalyn Hemrich, and Nora Nevois; her sister Theresa Radke of Springfield, Illinois; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Albert, Lawrence (Buddy), Walter (Red), and Richard (Dick) Helregel; sisters Clorene Ochs and Louise Keller; and infant grandchildren Faith, Hope, and Logan Kuenstler.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 5, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney, Illinois, with Fr. Mark Stec celebrating mass.
Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Wendelin, Illinois.
