GALE, Andrew B. - Andrew's family sadly announces his passing on December 7, 2003, at the age of 71, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Christine (Dimmer); loving father of David and Josephine (MacDonnell), Halifax; Dean, Quispamsis, N.B.; James and Mitzy (Sargent), Pickering, Ont., and grandchildren, Jonathan, Matthew, and Brittany. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Jessie; an infant son, and son, Daniel; brothers, Edward, John, and Michael. He is survived by brothers, Gerald, Frank, Gordon, Paul, Robert, Pius, Wallace; sister, Loretta, all of Newfoundland; brother, Bernie, Australia; many nieces and nephews. Andrew was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion and a veteran of the Korean Conflict, retiring as chief petty officer after 25 years of service in the Royal Canadian Navy. Andrew's family would like to convey their thanks to the Palliative Care Unit, VG Site, QEII, for their care and support over the past several months. Friends will be received in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., 7-9 p.m. today, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, with Legion service 7 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral service to be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 10, in St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, corner of Robie Street and Normandy Drive, Halifax, Father Gilbert J. Bertrand, OMI officiating. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, VG Site, QEII or IWK Health Centre Foundation.
