Myrtle E. Krueger, age 90, a resident of the Manitowoc Health Care Center, died on Thursday morning, Jan. 10, 2008, at the center.

She was born on Jan. 18, 1917, in the town of Rockland, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Adolph and Frieda (Rusch) Haelfrisch. On Aug. 6, 1937, she married Wilmer H. Krueger in Reedsville. He preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1994. Myrtle was a home-maker who enjoyed raising her five sons and was also employed by Brey's Food Market as a cashier for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Aid of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.

Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law: Harlan "Gene" & Mary Jo Krueger, Two Rivers, Jerome & Germaine Krueger, Manitowoc, Glenn & Mary Krueger, Wausau, Howard & Lois Krueger, Manitowoc, Kenneth & Barbara Krueger, Manitowoc; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and six sisters-in-law: Betty Gosse, Iva Haelfrisch, Anita Haelfrisch, Marion Haelfrisch, Eleanor Haelfrisch and Lydia Jagodinsky. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by five brothers: Clifford, Norman, Clarence, Ray and Frederick Haelfrisch; three sisters: Helen Dienor; Florence Schultz; and Loretta Krueger; a granddaughter: Kim Krueger; a great-grandson: Zachary Krueger; and a sister-in-law: Loretta Haelfrisch.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 916 Pine St., Manitowoc. Officiating at the Service will be the Rev. Stephen Melso, with burial at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008.

Friends may also call on Monday morning, Jan. 14, 2008, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.

Memorials would be appreciated to Manitowoc Lutheran High School or Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in her name.

The Krueger family would like to thank the staff at the Manitowoc Health Care Center for their care and compassion of Myrtle and her family. Myrtle enjoyed dancing with her husband, Wilmer, playing cards with her friends and spending time with her family. She will be missed by her family and friends.
