ROY ARNEY OBITUARY
WOODBURN - Roy Glenn Arney, 81, of Woodburn, went home to Heaven, surrounded by his family, from his home on December 20, 2007.

Roy was born in Hemlock, Tillamook County, Oregon on July 4, 1926 and was the tenth child born to Clarence Marion Arney and Hilga Augusta (Johnson) Arney. He moved with his family to the Woodburn area in 1930, and spent his working life on the family farm. Roy attended grade school at Hall School, just outside of Woodburn. He graduated from Woodburn High School with the class of 1944.

Roy married his high school sweetheart, Donna Correne Dean on December 14, 1946. Roy and Donna raised three children, Janet Yvonne, Marilou Dianne, and Ronald Craig. His hobbies and interests included "rock hounding," fishing, camping, gardening, working in his shop with wood and metal, and traveling. Roy was baptized as a teenager and served Our Lord his entire life. He was a member of the Woodburn Methodist Church and served as a trustee, the Woodburn Christian Church as a Deacon and Elder, and Pioneer Christian Church as a church planter. His last membership was in Mid-Valley Community Church.
Roy is survived by his children, Janet (with husband, Allen Thiessen), and Marilou (with husband, Ernie Noffsinger); 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Martha Thompson, and sister-in-law, Esther Dean, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Roy and Donna celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in 2004, shortly before Donna's death, December 31, 2004. Roy and Donna's son, Ronald, died in Aparri, Cagayan, Philippines December 8, 1973.

A Celebration of Roy's Life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 28 at Mid-Valley Community Church, 591 Gatch Street, Woodburn. Interment will follow at Belle Passi Cemetery, Woodburn. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be given or sent to Mid-Valley Community Church, PO Box 294, Woodburn OR 97071. Caring arrangements were by Crown Memorial Center, Milwaukie.
