Reuben Ann Allen was born in 1851 as child # 12 born to David W. Allen and Elizabeth Jane "Jennie" Martin. She married Hiram Hicks who was born in 1846, son of Hiram Hicks and Francis "Fanny" Brown. It is recorded in both family histories that this marriage did take place. Hiram served in the Civil War and Hiram was only 18 years old when he died in 1864. Possibly she remained in her parents' home waiting on his return from the war. Hiram left a very young bride and there is no record they ever had children. She remained in her parents' home while her husband was off to war. She is said to have died the next year in 1865 at the age of 14. No record of cause of death. She is said to be buried on the former homestead of her parents on the plot of land now known as the David W Allen Cemetery.
