Elizabeth Anne Klarer, 82, died peacefully Tuesday, June 12, 2018, in New York City. Anne was born June 2, 1936 in Snowflake to Louie Elizabeth Van Wagoner and Jesse Marsden Smith.

She graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.S. in Accounting in 1958. After graduating, Anne served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) in the Central States Mission. She met her husband, Hans Klarer, at a ballroom dance class in New York City. They were married July 22, 1965 in Zürich, Switzerland and sealed Sept. 27, 1966 in the Mesa LDS Temple.

During her life, Anne held various positions as an administrative assistant. The most memorable were her times working at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Barnard College. Anne was an active member of the LDS Church. She found joy in studying the Book of Mormon and other scriptures, singing in the ward choir, and serving in the Manhattan New York Temple. Anne treasured the valuable relationships she had developed with her immediate and extended family, and ever-growing circle of friends. In addition to nourishing these relationships, she enjoyed attending performances by the New York Philharmonic, the New York City Ballet, and the Metropolitan Opera. Anne also loved to read, listen to Jazz, view art exhibits, and eat chocolate.

Anne was preceded in death by her mother, Louie E. Van Wagoner Smith, father Jesse M. Smith, step-mother Marvel Bailey Smith; siblings: Van Smith, Earl Smith, Roy Smith, Lilia Seegmiller, Leland Smith, Peggy Hatch, Ruth Hatch, and Donald Smith.

She is survived by her husband, Hans Klarer; their daughters Andria Klarer, Shelley Allred (Brian), and Kim Cantrell (Sam); six grandchildren, and one great grandchild; and siblings Ronald Smith, JC (Buck) Smith.

Memorial services were held June 16 in New York at the Lincoln Square LDS Chapel located at 125 Columbus Avenue, New York, New York 10023. Details for the memorial services in Arizona will be provided at a later date.
