He was born July 13, 1928, at Wolf Point, Mont., to Marshall and Alta (Mikel) Winship. He attended schools there and graduated from Wolf Point High School in 1946. He served in the Army during World War II and the Korean War.
After his discharge, he returned to Montana and made his home at Fairfield where he worked on several ranches in the area. He retired because of poor health in 1984. He moved to the Lake Chelan area in October 1989 to be near his children.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Winship, Chelan; a son, Dan Winship, Chelan; a brother, Wally Winship, Vaughn, Mont.; a sister, Dorothy Jahnke, Mesa, Ariz.; and a grandson. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
