Former Fairfield Man Killed in Accident Near Wolf Creek
Vernon Glen Winship, 42, Great Falls and formerly of Fairfield, was killed Sunday at noon when he was crushed under a loaded bed of a sanding truck.
Winship, who was a mechanic for the State Highway Department, was called to Wolf Creek to repair the truck and was working to free the controls of the loaded dump bed when it fell and pinned his neck against the "bed rail."
Winship moved to Great Falls from Fairfield about a year ago when he started employment with the highway department.
Funeral services for Winship were held Wednesday at Great Falls. Burial was in Highland cemetery with military graveside rites. Surviving are the wife, Edythe, and four children; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Winship, Fairfield; a sister, Mrs. George (Dorothy) Johnke, Great Falls; and brothers, Wallace, Vaughn and Dale, of Dutton.
