GRAMPIAN - Thomas J. Allison, 88, of Grampian RD died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at Clearfield Hospital.
Born Jan. 12, 1921, at Mahaffey, he was a son of the late John and Viola (Kitchen) Allison.
Mr. Allison was a administrator for DuBois Area School District for 29 years before retiring in 1982.
He graduated from Curwensville High School, Class of 1939. Mr. Allison received his master's degree from The Pennsylvania State University, graduating in the Pioneer Class of 1952, in Vocational agriculture.
He taught vocational agriculture at Curwensville High School for 11 years, where he gained the respect of many young men.
He was a member of Greenville Church of the Brethren for 65 years and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
On June 15, 1941, at Grampian, he wed Eula D. (Gould) Allison, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Thomas R. Allison and his wife, Terri, of Warren and Calvin Allison and his wife, Cheryl, of Waldorf, Md.; seven grandchildren, Thomas R. Allison Jr. and John Wolfgang, both of Ocala, Fla., Rebecca Allison and Jason Allison, both of Waldorf, Joseph T. Allison and Shawn Allison, both of Elmira, N.Y., and Kristen Allison of Warren; two great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Maude Rowles of Arizona; a brother, Blair Allison of Rochester, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Allison was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Matthews and Emma Green; and five brothers, Ferman, James, Clyde, Stanley and Eddie Allison.
A committal service will be held Saturday, Feb. 14, at 3 p.m. at Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with Pastor David Baker officiating. Interment will be at Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Saturday, Feb. 14, from 1 p.m. until the hour of services.
Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by member of the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No. 6 and the Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars F. Michael Sicks Post No. 1785.
