Chester J. Sobieski, age 78, of 2233 Russell Lane, Manitowoc, died Sunday, September 3, 1995, at North Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center.
Private Family Funeral Services were held Tuesday, September 5, 1995, at Calvary Chapel Mausoleum. Rev. Gerald Foley officiated.
Chester was born July 10, 1917, at Manitowoc, son of the late John and Bernice Kaczmarek Sobieski. He grew up and was educated in Manitowoc and for many years was employed at Mirro Aluminum Company retiring in 1979. He was married to Emily L. Remiker September 10, 1949, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville. They celebrated 45 years of marriage together. He was a member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church and a veteran of World War II serving in the United States army Air Force 376th Bombardier Group, 15 Air Force from 1941-1945. Chester enjoyed his family, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Emily two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Donald Meixell, Arlington, Texas, Jane and Paul Zwieg, Wausau; five grandchildren, Anne, Theresa and David Meixell, Brian and Kar Zwieg; a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Florian Jankowski, Manitowoc; a brother-in-law, Harold Brixius, Manitowoc; a sister-in-law, Viola Lensmeyer, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Chester was also preceded in death by his sister, Eunice Brixius.
