Jane was born on November 10, 1932, in Philadelphia, the daughter of the late Ralph and Amanda (Ring) Launer. She married Lewis "Sonny" Webster on September 19, 1953, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bluff Springs and celebrated 50 blessed years of marriage. Lewis preceded her in death on June 13, 2004. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Ernest Launer, and one sister, Norma Sweatman.
Graduating in 1953 from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield, she had a lifelong dedicated career in service of over 50 years as a Registered Nurse. This career included a Doctor's Office in Virginia, the Schmitt Memorial Hospital in Beardstown, and Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She also worked as a Registered Nurse for the State of Illinois Department of Humans Services until her retirement in 2010. Jane was a loving and devoted farmer's wife, mother, and grandmother.
Jane was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pleasant Plains. She also served as a 4-H leader in Cass County for many years and as a Board of Director for Springfield Lutheran School. Jane was a very talented seamstress, and also loved to crochet and garden. She dearly loved collecting antiques with Sonny and enjoyed the outdoors with daily walks.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Kim) Webster of Virginia, Michele (Norm) Stremsterfer, Monica (Dennis) Boesdorfer, and Julianne (Don) James, all of Pleasant Plains, and Jacqueline (Jack) DeOrnellas of Murrayville; thirteen grandchildren, Lee (Stacy) Stremsterfer, Travis (Mary) Stremsterfer, and Bridget (Tim) Wieland of Pleasant Plains, Lindi (Scott) Kocher of Kirklin, IN, Wade (Elly) Stremsterfer of Fairfield, IA, Brent (Kendra) Boesdorfer of Springfield, Jamie (Ryan) Murphy of Chatham, Amanda (Jeff) Drake of Troy, KS, Arthur (Claire) DeOrnellas of Curryville, MO, Allan (Stella) DeOrnellas of Surprise, AZ, Chase (Kate) James of Chicago, Charles (Elizabeth) James of Wylie, TX, and Clayton James of Chicago; twenty-five great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and one sister, Joanne Anderson of Virginia.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church in Pleasant Plains, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia.
