She was born October 24, 1927, in Beardstown; the daughter of Ralph and Amanda Ring Launer. She married Leland L. Sweatman on June 19, 1948, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bluff Springs and he preceded her in death on July 26, 2017.
Norma is survived by five children, ten grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, two sisters, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Sweatman; a great granddaughter; and a brother, Ernest Launer (surviving wife, Shirley of Springfield).
A 1945 graduate of Virginia High School, Norma was a devoted homemaker, farm wife, and mother. She was a life-long member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she served on numerous boards and committees and was the consummate volunteer. She was a member of the Cass County Home Extension and a passionate St. Louis Cardinal fan. She enjoyed time spent with her husband collecting and selling antique glassware.
Norma's hobbies included crocheting, gardening, cooking and was well know for her outstanding pie baking skills. She loved hosting her large family for all occasions and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bluff Springs with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia.
