Harold (Hal) D. Brenner, long time Midland resident passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at the age of 91.
Visitation will be at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 5:00 pm – 7:00pm. A rosary will follow starting at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be at St. Ann's Catholic Church on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Harold was born on the family farm on December 29, 1931 seven miles north of Bazine, Kansas to William and Rose Brenner. Harold was the youngest of eight children, five boys and three girls.
He attended a one-room grade school two miles north of the home place. He graduated from High School in Bazine, Kansas. He attended Kansas State University two years prior to joining the U.S. Navy for four years from 1951 – 1955. He was assigned aboard the USS Comstock LSD-19. During the Navy, his ship was stationed in and around Wonsan Harbor Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1955.
He returned to Kansas State University and graduated with a B.S. in Geology. While at KSU he met and married Leann Graber of Arlington, Kansas. They were married for 66 years. They started their family while they were still in college.
After graduation in 1959 he started his career in the oil industry. His first job was with BJ Service in the Texas Panhandle, moving several times in the next few years to towns in Texas, Bakersfield and Woodland California, New Orleans Louisiana, one year in Venezuela and many years in Midland, Texas. He has been at Manor Park for the last ten years. He spent many years as a consultant in business for himself with a total of 56 years in the oil industry.
In Midland he was involved in Little League Baseball as coach of North Central Little League and in the Sophomore League. One years he was President of the Little League Association.
He was a member of various organizations including St. Ann's Catholic Church.
Hal has been a close friend of Bill W. for 39 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Dr. William, Edward, Leo and Ben; two sisters including, Mary Brenner and Irene Antenen; one grandson, Gregory Brenner.
He is survived by his wife, Leann; sister, Mildred Kuhlman of Oakley, Kansas; three sons, one daughter and their families, David and wife Mary of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandson, Benjamin and wife Robyn of Minneapolis, Minnesota; granddaughter, Elizabeth and husband Catlin Whitington of Austin, Texas; Mike and wife Patsy of Lubbock, Texas; grandson, Neal of Lubbock, Texas; granddaughter, Tracy and husband Chas Westbrook of Tahoka, Texas; John Cody Brenner of Lubbock, Texas; Danny Brenner and wife Connie of Tyler, Texas; grandson, Devin and wife Amanda of Dover, Florida; grandson, Dustin Brenner of Midland; daughter, Sheryl Cox and husband Clay residing in Tuscola, Texas; as well as thirteen great grandchildren.
