William W. Johnson was the son of Isaac Johnson and his wife Martha Kelly (family oral history says 'Pure Irish').

His father, Isaac Johnson, is also buried in Cotton Cemetery in a unmarked grave at the feet of his daughter, Elizabeth Johnson Hughes according to family oral history. His mother's grave location is unknown.

There is controversy on whether his middle name is William Washington Johnson or William Wesley (Wisley) Johnson. However, on the death certificate of his son, James P. Johnson, the father is listed as "Wash" Johnson.

William W. Johnson was married to Mahala Mulkey on 15 January 1867 in Pike County, Alabama.

She was the daughter of Felix G. Mulkey & wife Elizabeth C. Miller. At this point, her burial place is noted as an unmarked grave in this cemetery. [NOTE: If anyone has further information, please contact me.]

They had 5 living children that have been identified, but 1900 Census indicates that there were 5 others who had died prior to the 1900 Census.
