Virginia "Sue" (Bowling) Mayfield, 77, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. The daughter of James Walton "Jim" and Georgia (Merimon) Bowling, Sue was born in Cole, Oklahoma on October 28, 1945.
Sue was raised in the Cole/Blanchard area all of her life. She attended Blanchard Schools until she was sixteen, then graduated from Dibble High School. Sue married Frank Jerry Mayfield at the age of sixteen and they were married until his passing in 2012. She was a homemaker and worked alongside Frank Jerry on the farm. Sue was "the best" at calling up the cattle. She was an Honorary Chapter Farmer in FFA, always attending the stock shows and FFA events with Frank Jerry. The FFA members would call her "Mama Sue" and she would often provide food for them at the events. Sue was also a 4H leader and coached Jenny's softball team when she was younger. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and of the Free Will Baptist Church of Dibble. She loved both cooking for her family and reading, especially mysteries.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank Jerry Mayfield; three brothers, Cratis Bowling, Jack "Red" Bowling and George "Smokey" Bowling; and three sisters, Rena Rider, Jimmie Joyce Broadbent, and Mattie Flowers.
Sue is survived by one daughter, Jenny Savage and husband, Tim of Blanchard; two sons, Frank Jerry Mayfield, II and wife, Tammie of Blanchard and Josh Mayfield of Blanchard; seven grandchildren, Chisolm Perry and wife, Amber and their children Leeanna and Raylee, Sage Perry and wife Kassy and their children Larkin and Huck, Jordan Birchum, Hunter Mayfield and wife Jaimee and their children Gyntery, Aspyn and Swayde Tate, Holden Mayfield, Hadlie Mayfield and Alyssa Mayfield ; one sister, Judy Young and husband Ronnie; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Hill of Blanchard; and many other nieces, nephews and loved ones and friends.
