September 12, 1935 ~ June 27, 2023 (age 87)

Franklin Hughie "Tub" English of Willard, NC, departed this earthly life on the morning of Tuesday, June 27, 2023, while at Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. Born on September 12, 1935, he is the son of the late Adeline Pigford and Edward Leland English, Sr. He was also preceded in death by siblings—Edward Leland English, Jr., Rosalyn E. Burns, Ronald "Pop" English, Juanita Mann, and Steve English.

Left to cherish his memory are sisters –Sally Berry of Southern Pines and Rosa Winfree of Lansing (NC); and a great number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. English was born in and spent most of his life in the east Willard area of Pender County. During the mid1950's, he was in the U.S. Army for several years and was stationed in Alaska. "Tub" was a farmer all his life and took a great deal of pride in raising his pigs. He enjoyed spending time in his gardening as well. Viewed by some as being "ornary", this was just his personality and it seemed to bother others more than it bothered him.

A graveside service to celebrate his life is set for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2023 in the Peniel Church Cemetery in Willard, NC. Officiating will be the Reverend Jimmy Johnson. Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services is serving the English family. Rather than flowers, please consider a contribution in "Tub"'s memory to the Union EMS.
