Mr. Edward Leland English, Jr. age 89 of Willard died Thursday August 30, 2012 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center in Wilmington.
He is survived by four sisters, Juanita Mann of Raleigh, NC, Amelia "Meatsie" English of Willard, NC, Sally Berry and husband Frank of Southern Pines, NC and Rose Winfree and husband Joe of Lansing, NC, two brothers, Steve English and wife Phyllis of Hendersonville, NC and Frank "Tub" English of Willard, NC, a special niece, Gail Strickland of Wilmington, NC and several other nieces and nephews.
Born July 24, 1923 in Willard, NC, Mr. English was the son of the late Edward Leland and Lila Adalene Pigford English, Sr. and was a member of Potts Memorial Presbyterian Church serving as an Elder. He worked for the US Postal Service for 30 years, served in the Ruritian Club for over 50 years, holding many positions and received the Life Achievement Award. He loved to farm, enjoyed gardening in his spare time, his pets and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Margaret Woodcock English, a sister, Rosalyn English Burns and a brother, Ronald "Pop" English.
