Mary Eleanor Adkins Bevington, 83, of Stanardsville, Virginia passed away in Charlottesville, Virginia on August 16, 2023.

She was born on March 15, 1940, to Elza B. Adkins & Opal Cummings Adkins in Lincoln County, West Virginia at her parent's home. Mary was the fourth youngest of 17 children born to Elza & Opal.

In addition to her parents, and several siblings, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 41 years James Arthur Bevington.

She is survived by her son James "Terry" Bevington (Michelle) of Stanardsville, Virginia, son Timothy A. Bevington of Negley, Ohio, and Tracey Bevington of Stanardsville, Virginia. Grandchildren Timothy Bevington (Reba) of Lynchburg, Virginia, Brooke Bevington of Verona, Virginia, Taylor Miller of Stanardsville, Virginia, Dale Anderson (Sharra) of Ruckersville, Virginia, Christopher Anderson (Rebecca) of Stanardsville, Virginia, Timothy Anderson (Alicia) of Ruckersville, Virginia, Marc Anderson (Paige) of Beaverdam, Virginia, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters Frances Nadine Adkins Davis of Lexington, North Carolina and Carolyn Sue Adkins Warner (Kenny) of Alliance, Ohio, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A visitation will be held on August 22, 2023, at Batten Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Directly after the visitation, the burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery at 901-919 Cemetery Road McGaheysville, Rockingham County, Virginia.

Mary's family would like to thank Albemarle Health & Rehabilitation Center for the love and long-term care they provided from June 1, 2021, until August 16, 2023.

As well Mary's family extends their sincerest gratitude to MediHome Hospice, under the direction of Dr. Brooke Bostic. Your organization goes above and beyond for the patient and the family during these most difficult times. A very special thank you to Caryn Shifflett Marshall who made herself available to us when we had questions or needed help navigating through this difficult time.
