Mary George St.Clair Day, Pearisburg, Va., age 94, passed away on March 21, 2023 at Heritage Hall, Blacksburg, Va.

Mary was born at home in Bane, Giles County, Va. on New Year's Day, 1929 to Charles P. and Minnie Stafford St.Clair. Besides her parents, she was preceded by three sisters, Louise Goetz, Katherine Robertson, and Eleanor Thornhill.

Mary is survived by daughter, Cindy Bishop Lake (George) of Culpeper, Va; son, Chad Day (Rhiannon) of Benson, North Carolina; sister, Ruth Robertson of Pearisburg, Va; beloved grandchildren; several nieces and a nephew, numerous cousins, and devoted friend George Meredith of Pearisburg.

Mary had two retirements (Hercules, Inc. twenty-seven years) and Taco Bell, Blacksburg and Dublin (twenty-seven years). She enjoyed meeting people, was a loving and generous friend to many, and developed a loyal following of customers at both Taco Bell locations.

Other than spending time with family, Mary's favorite activity was fishing. Many seasons she could be found at Big Stony Creek in Giles County trout fishing. Late in life she discovered surf fishing at Cape Hatteras, experiencing the thrill and bragging rights for catching two very large drum fish. Mary was adept at hooking old-fashioned rag rugs, solving Sodokus, completing jigsaw puzzles, and playing Rummikub. She was an avid reader of Debbie Macomber novels because, she said, "they always have happy endings." She kept up with family and friends on Facebook.

The family is grateful for the care our loved one received at Heritage Hall Rich Creek, Heritage Hall Blacksburg, by the staff of Medi Home Health and Hospice, and Valley Ridge Home Health - angels one and all.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 30, 2023, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Givens Funeral Home, Pearisburg, Va. Interment at Birchlawn Burial Park will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice. Online condolences can be sent to the family at givensfuneralhome.com.
