Mr. Bobby Jack Aldridge, Sr., 74, died Saturday (December 30, 2023) at Ascension St. Vincents in Jacksonville.

Bobby was born April 28, 1949 and raised by the late J. E. "Bud" Aldridge and Maude Dukes Aldridge in Waycross. Bobby graduated in 1967 from Waycross High. On April 9, 1969, he was drafted into the Army. He did basic Training at Fort Benning, now Fort Moore, in Columbus, Ga. He completed AIT at Fort Polk in Louisiana. On September 16, 1969, he left to serve in Vietnam until September 15, 1970. Bobby was a Combat Veteran with 1st Cavalry Division. He returned home and finished his time at Fort Stewart. He received numerous medals such as CIB, Air Medal, Code of Conduct, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, two Overseas Service Bars and The Army Commendation Medal. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he was employed by Airco Welding Products, now BOC Gases and retired in Bessemer/ Birmingham, AL. Since moving back to Waycross, he attended Oak Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Smith, four brothers, Billy Aldridge, Everett Cobb Aldridge, Ed Aldridge and Elbert Aldridge; three sisters, Lillian Griffis, Betty Jean Weeks and Louell Dixon; and a grandson, Christopher Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Crews Aldridge of Waycross; three children, Bobby Jack "Jay" Aldridge, Jr. (Aimee) of Waycross, Brandi Ray (Darryl) of Oxford, AL and Beverly Kemery (Chris) of Oxford, AL; four grandsons, Kaleb Aldridge of Waycross, Landon Ray of Chattanooga, TN, Hayden Ray and Austin Ray both of Oxford, AL; four sisters, Mary Mack of Carson City, NV, Joann Razzano of St. Petersburg, FL, Linda Miller of Jacksonville and Debbie Noble of Carson City, NV; two brothers, David Smith of Waycross and Jimmy Smith of The Villages, FL; and his four legged baby, Bella.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday (January 6, 2024) at Music Funeral Home. The family will begin receiving friends at 2 p.m.
