OBITUARY GIVEN FOR THE LATE MR. SCHLIMMER
Interment services were held at 2 p.m. last Friday at Oakwood cemetery for the late August Schlimmer. Funeral services had been held the same day, Oct. 27, at 10 a.m. at the funeral chapel at Davenport with Rev. Schultz officiating.
Mr. Schlimmer had lived at 912 East Pleasant street, Davenport, and died at Mercy hospital, Davenport, October 25, at 5 p.m. He had been a patient at the hospital for ten months. He was born Oct. 15, 1861, at Schleswig Holstein, Germany, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Schlimmer. He came to this country in 1881 and settled first in Clinton county. He had been married in Germany in 1880 to Emma Stahlberg. They lived in Clinton county for ten years and then moved to a farm in Scotch Grove township, Jones county, Iowa.
Mr. Schlimmer retired from farming in 1906 and moved to Monticello. He lived here until 1931 when he went to Davenport to make his home. He was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran church and is survived by three daughters and five sons as follows: Mrs. Annie Schoon, Low Point, Ill; Mrs. Emma Oetzann and Mrs. C.O. Beeks, Davenport; John Schlimmer, Cedar Rapids, August Schlimmer, Low Point, Ill.; and Theodore, Fritz W. and Henry M. Schlimmer, Davenport. He is also survived by 45 grandchildren.
