JOHN SCHLIMMER....MONTICELLO
Funeral services for John Schlimmer, 86, were held Nov 13 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran church, Monticello and at Huebner Funeral home, Denison, at 1 p.m. Nov. 14. Burial was in Oakland cemetery, Denison.
Mr. Schlimmer died at John McDonald hospital, Monticello, Nov. 10. He had been a resident at Senior Home prior to being admitted to the hospital.
He was born near Scotch Grove Nov 26, 1886, son of August and Emma Stahlberg Schlimmer. He received his early education in the Scotch Grove area schools.
He was married to Emma Krueger at Denison March 18, 1908 and the couple farmed in that area. Mrs. Schlimmer died in 1935 and in 1938 Mr. Schlimmer returned to Monticello to make his home, where he was employed in general construction work.
He is survived by six children, Mrs. John (Lola) Leggett, Monticello; Arlo, Waterloo; Raynor, Cedar Falls; Ross, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Adrian, Cedar Falls and Mrs. Jerry (Phyllis) Hinze, Waterloo.
He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Alvena Beeks and a brother, Theodore, both of Bettendorf.
