Believed to have been born Canton Bern, Switzerland; came to America about 1856. Married Peter Beer 20 Feb. 1858 in Holmes County, Ohio. Buried in the Beer family plot with Peter; also in this plot are two probable relatives, Fred Sommer (1847-1926) and Frank Earl Sommer (1893-1942).
