Jacob Cripe was the son of John J. and Mary Cripe and was born in Carroll county October 18, 1865. On May 6, 1897, he was united in marriage to Mary M. Young, at Terre Haute. The couple started housekeeping at Owasco where Mr. Cripe owned a general store for a year. He then came to Frankfort and since that time has been employed by the Shanklin Wholesale Grocery company.
He is survived by the widow and four children. The latter are: Helen and Julia Cripe at home, Mrs. Ruth Ashley of this city and Bob Cripe of East Chicago, Ind. Two brothers and five sisters also survive. They are Isaac Cripe of Williamsport and Perry Cripe of Ockley, Mrs. J. L. Waginer, Pyrmont; Mrs. Harry Pressell, Fresno, Calif.; Miss Esther Cripe, Peru, Ind.; Mrs. Arvine Reppert, Cleveland, Ohio; Miss Cora Cripe, New York City.
The deceased was one of the most influential members of the local post of the T.P.A. in the establishment of the T.P.A. park in Frankfort and this beautiful garden spot will always remain as a monument to the efforts of Jacob Cripe.
Religiously, he was affiliated with the Christian church and members of that denomination last night stated that no member of their organization was more devoted to the work, more punctual in attendance, and more liberal in the support of this church than Jacob Cripe.
His countless friends in this community were deeply pained when the news of the unfortunate accident were received in this city and the entire citizenship will mourn his passing together with the members of the immediate family.
