Carl Baxter, Rig Operator Stricken
Carl Baxter, 75, a retired crane operator, died about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Bartholomew county hospital. Mr. Baxter, 731 Sixteenth street, had been in ill health several years and in serious condition the last week. Mr. Baxter retired 10 years ago.
He was born Sept. 6, 1888, in Jefferson county, the son of David and Oma Briddle Baxter. Mr. Baxter married the former Miss Marie Englert June 13, 1910, who survives.
He was a former member of the Bethany Baptist church in Jefferson county.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth E. Noel of 1530 Sycamore street, and a brother, Elzie Baxter of Indianapolis.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Barkes and Inlow funeral home with burial at Garland Brook cemetery. The Rev. Richard Yeaton, assistant pastor of the First Christian church, will read the rites. Persons may call at the funeral home.
