Leslie Wardle
Rexburg - Leslie Lavern Wardle, 76, a former crane operator for Utah-Idaho Sugar Company, died Monday evening at Toppenish, Wash.
Born July 9, 1900, at South Jordan, Utah, he was the son of Silas DeRoy Wardle and Emiline Orgil Wardle.
At the age of two, the family moved to the Egin Beach area where Mr. Wardle spent much of his life.
He attended school in Drummond and started working for Utah-Idaho Sugar Company in 1919. He began working full time for the company in 1924 and worked at Sugar City, South Jordan, and later transferred to Toppenish, where he worked until retiring.
He was married to Grace McCulloch Wright on Nov. 4, 1910 [sic] in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple.
Mr. Wardle was active in the LDS Church and was a high priest and home teacher.
Survivors include his widow, Grace L. Wardle of Toppenish; three daughters, Mrs. Clyde (Phyllis) Higley of Blackfoot, Mrs. Robert (Vvs) Webster of Challis and Mrs. Grover (Rayola) Garrett of St. Anthony; two sons, Robert Silas Wardle of Idaho Falls and Jack Robert Wright of Toppenish; two brothers, Sheldon Wardle of St. Anthony and LeGrand Wardle of Rock Springs, Wyo.; one sister, Mrs. Harold (Lula) Williams of Rock Springs; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Rexburg 7th Ward. The family will meet friends at the church at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
Burial will be in the Burton Cemetery under the direction of the Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg.
