Doris was born on July 16, 1924, one of four children to the late William James and Rose (Marck) Cooke. A lifelong resident of Plainville, she was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church. She was an avid bridge player, and had a special love for camping, taking her family on many outdoor adventures throughout the years, including many summers spent in Granville, MA. She centered her life around her family, took great pride in her children's and grandchildren's accomplishments, and was happiest being surrounded by family and friends at gatherings. She was a fun-loving woman, with great strength and determination, who remains an inspiration to those she leaves behind.
In addition to her husband, Donald, she is survived by her children, James and Nanette Clark of New Paltz, NY, Richard Clark and his wife, Kirsten Hoving of Middlebury, VT, Thomas and Elizabeth Clark of Moodus, Catherine and Scott Canavan of Shoreham, VT, Susan Clark of Charleston, SC and Patricia and Steven Small of Mystic. She also leaves her grandchildren, Winter Canavan, Georgiana Rice, Silas Canavan, Sofia, Jasper, Oakley, and Kaitlyn Clark, and Alaina and Emma Small; her brother, Raymond Cooke, and his wife, Trudy of Raynham, MA; her sister-in-law, Veronica Cooke of New Jersey and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Evelyn Cooke and her brother, William Cooke.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 8 a.m. from Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and Friends may gather on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
