BURLINTON - Mrs. Doris Hatley Loy, 92, formerly of Harden Street, burlington, and a resident of Burlington Manor and Clare Bridge since 2003, died Monday, January 21, 2008 at 9:43 p.m.
Mrs. Loy was born in Albemarle, Stanly County, N.C. on July 17, 1915. She moved to Burlington and lived here for over 70 years. She was a member of the Doris Crissman Sunday school class and the United Methodist Woman. Also, she was a charter member of the Fleur de Lis Garden Club. Doris was a dedicated and loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to many in the community.
Survivors include a son, Robert Daniel Loy and wife, Brenda Barham Loy, of Graham; a granddaughter, Allison Gray Loy of Graham; eight nieces, Margaret Loy, Mary Whitfield, Evelyn M. Harwood, Elaine Moore, Danny Hatley, and Gray Tuttle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eugene Loy; her parents, Daniel Jasper Hatley and Elsie Shoe Hatley; two brothers, Roy Hatley and D. J. Hatley Jr.; two sisters, Betty Hatley Cotton and Juanita Hatley Moore; and a granddaughter, Jenna Loy.
The funeral will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church of Graham on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 11 a.m. by Dr. Kenneth Hall. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the parlor of the church on thursday from 10 until 11 a.m. prior to the service, and at other times they will be at the residence of the son, Robert Daniel Loy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Building Fund of the First United Methodist Church, 303 North Main Street, Graham, N.C. 27253.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff and volunteers at Burlington Manor and the Clare Bridge Program. We appreciate your kind and compassionate care over the past few years.
