J. M. Haley was born Jan. 24, 1921, in Garza County, to O.F. and Emily Gadd Haley. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII; and was a lifelong farmer in Garza County.
He married the love of his life Jessie Marie Beard on Valentine's Day 1943, in Tahoka.
He was a member of 1st Baptist Church in Post.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Lesa Windham; two brothers; and three sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Karen Burns and husband Fred of Pine Ridge, Ark., and Brenda Walker and husband Bill of Lubbock; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews
