Letitia (Akers) Crum was the daughter of Nathaniel Akers and Elizabeth Akers cousins and residents of Patrick County, Virginia. Letitia was one of fifteen children her siblings being: Stephen, Celia, Sarah, John, Featherstone, Wesley, Samuel, Martha, Burwell, Nathaniel Claiborne, Elizabeth Jane, Mary Ann, Caroline and Nancy Akers. Letitia was raised in Patrick County, Virginia.

Letitia married Anderson Pigg Crum, the son of John Crum and Mary Pigg, October 22, 1834 in Patrick County. They moved soon after marriage to Moniteau County, Missouri to farm. They were the parents of William Henry Clay Crum, Nathaniel Anderson Crum, James Wesley Crum, a dau d.y., George Washington Crum, Amanda Jane (Crum) Akers, Mary Elizabeth (Crum) Howard and an unnamed son who died the day he was born, along with his mother, Letitia.
