I have had recent DNA testing along with Cousins Lewis Paul Kent, Virginia Annette Kent, Paul Stanke and others and we have a strong connection to Kent descendants of both Columbiana County and Williams County, Ohio. I believe strongly that our Thomas Kent b.1802 is likely the son of Isaac Kent b.1780 who is the son of Thomas Kent b. 1746 and who lived in Loudoun County, Virginia, Columbiana County, Ohio and who died in Williams County, Ohio. I am working with Indiana and Missouri Kent cousins as well as the Family Tree Kent Southern Project to determine more information. This is NOT the Thomas Kent of Pennsylvania who married Ann Ralston that many descendants show in their family trees. Stay tuned!

The gravestone indicates that Thomas lived 76 yrs. 7 Mos. 29 days.
Using Family TreeMaker's date calculator and using his death date as 5-13-1879, it indicates his birth date would be 9-14-1802. There are several other death dates posted on the internet. If anyone has another theory or verifiable record let me know - otherwise I think the Family Tree Maker would be pretty accurate.

NOTE: There are several databases showing Thomas Kent married to Rebecca Lewis (even I used to think so). I have deduced, however, that Thomas Kent was actually married to Rebecca Ashford. I have also connected DNA wise to Ashford Descendents from Columbiana County, Ohio. I am related to descendants of George Ashford, Rebecca's brother who lived and died in Columbiana County, Ohio.
Rebecca Lewis married Harrison Boyd and was the niece of Rebecca Ashford. Rebecca Lewis was the daughter of Jason Lewis and Nancy Ashford (Rebecca Ashford Kent's sister). They're all related and buried together at Rowe Cemetery so it's understandable there could be confusion. Rebecca's sister Lydia Lang is also buried in Rowe Cemetery. Rebecca's brother Elderkin is buried in the Bloomingdale Quaker Cemetery and her brother Aaron Ashford Jr. died and is buried somewhere in Parke County. Her father Aaron Ashford Sr. may have died in Parke County also about 1849 although his estate probate was in Columbiana County, Ohio.
I have documentation to shows that Rebecca Ashford was the wife of Thomas Kent and was the daughter of Aaron Ashford. I also have a court document to show that Rebecca was the sister of Aaron Ashford Jr. Lastly, I have tested my DNA and the Ashford line is present and a cousin that I match is a descendent of George Ashford, Rebecca's brother who remained in Columbiana County, Ohio and was the administrator of the estate of Aaron Ashford Sr.
