He was the son of Abram & Mahala (Cantrell) Parris. Moved with his parents to Tennessee, when very young. He grew to adulthood in Grainger and Clairborne counties.

Married 1: Nancy E. Turner in 1885 in Claiborne Co., TN. In the 1890's he moved his family to Cass county, Missouri. They settled in the Hickery Grove community, west of Pleasant Hill. In 1901 Nancy died leaving three children. She was laid to rest in the Union Baptish cemetery.

Married 2: Harriet Mahala Shockley on June 2, 1902. They continued to live and farm in the same community. Six children were born to this marriage. The Hickery Grove church and school played a hugh part in the raising of this large family.

Landrum was the father of nine children;
Lester, Maude, John, Leonard, William, Estella, Jessie, Floyd and Elnora.
