"Will" was the son of Abram and Mahala Mae (Cantrell) Parris.

He was reared in Grainger county Tennessee. He married Martha Rosenbalm, 25 July 1886. They lived on the Clinch River, in the shadow of the Clinch Mountian.

It came natural to him to be a woodsman and a carpenter. He made most of their furniture. He owned a saw mill, but would sometimes run uncut logs down river to market. He also farmed and at one time ran a government distillery. He also served for a time as deputy sheriff of Tazewell, TN.

In 1896 he brought his young family to Missouri. They made the journey by train. Everything they owned, live stock and all, was transported in a box car.

They put down roots and farmed in the Hickory Grove community, west of Pleasant Hill. Here he helped establish the Hickory Grove Baptist Church. This church would become the center of their social lives. They were a strict baptist family, dancing, movies and card playing were frowned upon.

He and Martha moved into Pleasant Hill in the 1930's and at the time of his death he was living on Front Street.

He was the father of nine children, Thula, Clarence, Ida, Wiley, Emma & Fred. Two others died as infants in Tennessee and one son, Hobert G. Milican, from another relationship. This child was reared by grandparents Abram & Haley Parris.
